Every item that makes its way to Alberts-Langdon is subject to a visual examination that involves studying the materials, wear, and methods of construction to determine if it is in keeping with the apparent age and historical period of the object. We also have at our disposal the technical means to unmask fakes and restorations in much the same way that experts use forensic methods in criminal investigations. For important items, we regularly contract carbon-14 dating (C-14) and thermoluminescence (TL) tests for authentication purposes. Test certificates are included upon purchasing the object. ~
